However, I am not so sure you are correct in dismissing liberal guilt as the key to the astounding compromises that have split the left. How that guilt is expressed is of course, varied. We live in an age of 'learned and rehearsed' experience, where some find justification for action in events which both pre-date their own lives and importantly, lived reality. This is especially true of say, Nationalist politics. The substitution of an unexperienced grievance is for many a life style choice.
