Scandalous

From the Daily Mail (photo caption)
Struggling: More than 100,000 seven-year-olds is unable to write properly
I blame the teachers.

Lovely.

Their maths is up the spout, too:

"One in five seven-year-olds - nearly 105,000 pupils - failed to reach the writing standards expected... One in six, or about 84,000, failed to reach expected standards in reading and nearly one in ten - 58,700 - failed to make the grade in maths."

If nearly 105,000 is one in five, the total is something under 525,000. If 84,000 is one in six, the total is 504,000. If 58,700 is nearly one in ten, the total is something over 587,000.
