Heathcliff

Has he read Wuthering Heights? Comparing himself to such a vengeful, bitter, vindictive man? Maybe he has then.

More importantly, has he read the Labour Party Constitution? Remember it says, "the Labour Party is a democratic socialist party." On the other hand he says, "I don't think these labels help. They confuse people sometimes." And he's its leader?

I laughed out laud this morning, listening to the 'Today' programme (BBS Radio4) when Mr Naughtie had to point out that "Gordon Brown has never hanged a dog!"

Very funny Jim. Blair always had a problem with his history. Looks like Brown has the same with literature.

Posibly more akin to the 'proud and taciturn' carrier Jock Gourlay in his namesake's 'House with the the Green Shutters.'

As well as being vengeful, bitter and vindictive, Heathcliff was involved in dodgy financial dealings, amassing a couple of estates to himself through taking advantage of an alcoholic and through a forced marriage of his son to a teenage heiress. He was greedy and unscrupulous, just managing to stay the right side of the law.
